Munich City Information

Detailed Munich City information depends on what you are seeking. This guide tries to provide a general overall view of the city and what is available to the visitor.

Munich Glockenspiel

Munich has many attractions for the visitor, like the world famous “Glockenspiel” in the Town Hall on Marienplatz. 11.00am,12.00 and 5.00pm are the times to see the full dance routine. This can get very busy during the main tourist season, but well worth it.

Close to Marienplatz is the Munich Viktualienmarkt, where some of the best fresh produce from Europe and around the world is on sale. Munich sightseeing is easy done by using public transport, or take the sightseeing buses, which start outside the main railway station, the Hauptbahnhof. There are walking tours, cycle tours, to satisfy every need.

Munich Viktualienmarkt MaypoleThe Maypole or Maibaum shown here, is a traditional sight in many villages and town centres throughout Bavaria and shows the many skills available in the locality.

The Munich City Guide is a collection of external links and local pages, bringing together an extensive base of Munich related information, in English.

Guide to the Guide

The Munich City Guide is divided into different sections to help you locate the city information you need. The site is a combination of information I created and links and information from other websites. You are welcome to make suggestions for inclusion in this original guide which started in 1996.

There is a lot of information about Munich on the Internet and you could spend days looking for information. If you like facts and figures without any marketing angle, I do suggest the Wikitravel Travel link in the menu bar.

Use the search facility

Every page has a search facility in the top right hand menu. Type in the subject you are looking for and a list will be shown containing that keyword. If you cannot find what you are looking, send an email and I will try to help.
