It is possible to create a sitemap for all the
different versions needed manually, using a text editor or html
editor. This method, is that you need to do this every time you
update a webpage, the reason, search engines use different sitemaps
to recognise new pages and more importantly, when they were
updated.
Types you need are in the format .html, .rss, .xml, .txt, .net and
are always placed in the main directory of your website. Different
search engines use different types of sitemaps, i.e. Google uses an
.xml sitemap. Yahoo uses a .txt sitemap etc. There are five main
versions for all the main search engines. You need them all if you
are SEO (search engine optimising) your website.

This is fairly easy to
create and update with new pages.

If you own a small website, with a few pages you
can create all your sitemaps manually and update them when you change or add
pages. If you have a larger or more sites there is a tool that creates all the
sitemaps automatically.
I wrote this page to help people understand how useful sitemaps are. I earn a
referral fee from the software tool I am recommending, which you can try for
free. I believe once you have seen how simple it is to use and the great
customer support you will thank me, I hope?
