Preparing for the Munich Oktoberfest 2013

Oktoberfest construction as started. Munich is again preparing for the 2013 Munich Oktoberfest. With an expected 6-7 million visitors over the two weeks of festival, it is the greatest peoples festival in the world. But what is it like before the start? Enclosed are some pictures taken three and a half weeks before the opening on September 21st.

Oktoberfest Construction takes time

Locally called the “Wiesn” or correctly the Theresienwiese, is an area permanently reserved near the middle of the city for the Oktoberfest and other festivals such as the Tollwood which starts on 26th November. Construction takes about 3 months, but it is quicker to dismantle.
