Munich Beer and the Oktoberfest
Munich is home to some of the top world class breweries
Munich beer and the Oktoberfest is all about quality. The standard that guides all German breweries is the Reinheitsgebot The main breweries in Munich are (Not in any order) Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Augustiner, Löwenbräu, Hofbräu and Spaten To be in the Oktoberfest, the brewery must be based in Munich. Although there are changes already.
The glass here is a Maßkrug and normally holds one litre of beer. There are smaller glasses, ie. half a litre, and special glasses for Weissbier. 
Munich Oktoberfest
This festival which is held for two weeks, ending on the first Sunday in October is held every year. More information about the Oktoberfest can be found in the side menu bar. Each year the city approves a new symbol or motif for the Oktoberfest. A contest is held and the winner receives prize money. There is now a collection of many of the motifs as far back as 1980.
