Can the United Nations stop Climate Change?

The leaders of every nation are supposed to represent the people, to create a safe, secure and prosperous country. We all know that does not happen. Some leaders are corrupt, some inept, and some listen to big business, The rest do their best or are not even elected. Which country type do you live in?
All countries are self centered, but we must not forget, we are all human beings, living on the same planet.

If an asteroid was expected to hit our planet in 10 years time, we would all work together for survival, and hopefully come up with a solution.
Climate Change is like an asteroid that is going to hit us, and yet we do very little to ensure we will survival.

The United Nations may not be perfect, but as Winston Churchill said of democracy, it is the best we have. The UN must take a strong lead in combating Climate Change. We all know somebody on the council will veto anything that is not good for their country. If we had proportional representation in the UN then everybody's voice would be heard and counted. Maybe only fully paid up members should be able to vote, or what would happen if the other 187 countries all refused to co-operate with the five permanent members?

So what can you do? Well if you are American, the first thing is to pressure Presidential candidates to promise to sign the
Kyoto Protocol, because unless people make their views known, we shall drift in a catastrophe that many people can see is heading our way. You may know the problem as Global Warming.

The rest of the worlds population must keep the pressure on their representatives, by voting, writing to newspapers, emailing, creating websites, posting to blogs until the leaders get the message.
Climate Change is very important to all of us.

This is my small contribution, what are you going to do? Well you can start by posting your views to the Perob
Climate Change Forum.
